A BUSY JUNE STARTS NOW!

Every now and then, you have periods of your life where everything goes by at a ridiculous pace. You barely have time to check in with what’s happening, with how you’re feeling. Sometimes you barely know what you’re doing. (The latter happens regularly to me.) I’ve got a feeling June is going to be one of those months.

First up, we’re kicking it off with exciting news about a new price for The Regulators: Dead Line. As of today eBook versions of Dead Line are now £1.99 in the UK, $2.99 in the US, €2.69 in Europe, $3.69 in Canada, $3.99 in Australia and New Zealand. So if you haven’t yet got it because you’ve been waiting for the price to come down, well, no more excuses. Get on it. Click here for The Regulators: Dead Line.

Next week, I’m off to do the coolest thing in my writing career so far. I’m heading off to Shetland to take part in Shetland Noir at the Mareel in Lerwick. To say I’m excited is an understatement. I’m now scheduled to appear three times over the weekend. I’ll be on Friday morning where there’s a Meet The Author event, Saturday it’s my main panel session alongside the excellent Alis Hawkins and Ajay Chowdhury and then Sunday I’ve been roped into playing a role in the You The Jury session. I say roped, some might argue that as soon as it was mentioned, I enthusiastically jumped at the chance. Hard to know who’s telling the truth there.

The festival itself is being headlined by Lee Child, Louise Penny, Vaseem Khan, Professor Lorna Dawson and Yrsa Sigurdardottir. To be sharing a billing with these authors is an honour. Plus, there’s the small matter of Scotland’s first game of the World Cup at 2am Sunday morning.

You can pick up copies of Ajay and Alis’ books using the links at the bottom of this email. They’re both excellent.

There are still limited tickets for the Saturday and Sunday events available here.

Following on from that, I’ll be joining Samantha Brownley on June 19th on the UKCBC to talk about The Regulators: Parallel Execution. I always have an absolute blast talking to Sam, so I’m really looking forward to this first proper chat about the new novel. If you’ve not joined the UK Crime Book Club yet, I can’t recommend it enough. If you’re even remotely interested in finding good British crime fiction, from some authors you might not have come across yet, there is no better place on the internet. It’s possibly the only community I’ve been a part of online where I’ve never argued with someone, so that is saying something about how bloody lovely everyone is. Join it now, here, ahead of my chat with Sam.

Was there something else happening in June? Honestly, not to sure… Anyone remind me?

OH YEAH! I’VE GOT A NEW BOOK COMING OUT!

The big news on June 12th is the launch of The Regulators: Parallel Execution. I’ve had a great time writing this book and I’m really proud of the story that I’ve managed to tell. This is a great entry point to the series for people who haven’t read the other books. It’s the start of a whole new story arc, so you don’t need to have read the other books to enjoy this one.

This time The Regulators are looking to set up a cover for Reuben Arrowsmith to integrate him back into the London underworld. But when he finds a butchered computer programmer, it’s clear that they’ve stumbled onto something much bigger. Jack Quinn has his own mission. Hired by Mi6 for a black ops mission deep behind enemy lines hunting a suspected war criminal, Jack has to also rescue an old friend and bring both back to the country safely. As ever, there are twists, turns, and plenty of action.

This is a book I’ve wanted to write for a while, it was all about finding the right moment for it in the series. I always wanted to look more at Jack in his soldier mode, whereas Reuben is just so much fun to write that he had to come back.  If you’re looking for a perfect poolside holiday read, or a made for TV page turner, this is going to be your cup of tea.

The Regulators: Parallel Execution is available for pre-order in eBook formats now, with the paperback released on June 12th.

The New Novel From Ben Bruce

MONEY. LOVE. POWER. HATE. It doesn't matter the era, the motivations for murder never change. GERALD TRAINER is dead. His body abandoned at the dockside warehouse he worked at. The list of suspects is long and the motivations plentiful. But who was it who took his life? JOSEPH WALSH & RAY CRIBBS are tasked with investigating the crime. But who is telling the truth? The dock workers all seem to have their own stories to tell whilst gangland figures try to pull their strings from the shadows. As pressure mounts from above, will they be able to find the voices that matter? Can Joseph overcome his own self-doubt? Will they catch the killer in a London set against itself, as the new and old world’s collide? Death Doesn't Care Who You Are. Murder Does. DEAD MEN DON’T PAY is the first in a new historical police procedural series from CWA author Ben Bruce.
